Established in 2013, This group offers services to a budding entrepreneurs educating students or children.
They operate under a system where an orphan or a widow applies and once accepted into their program, completes a business course. Then, they can apply for a microloan and start a business. The Life Center staff provides counseling and support as the business plan moves forward. The business creates income and the loan is paid back.
During our time with them, we were able to visit about half a dozen of these microloan recipients. They were operating clothing shops, a shoe retail shop, and a small neighborhood grocery store. Life Center also operates homes for orphans at a micro level, different from other organizations.
These orphans typically live in a home with no more than 10 residents. This environment provides an opportunity for nurturing and socialization that does not exist in larger orphanage settings.
