Lakeside Fish Farm / Pioneer School Bugesera, Rwanda
We were able to visit Faith and Roger Shaw at Lakeside Fish Farm and Pioneer School.
We had visited there two years earlier and enjoyed time with Roger, learning about the fish farm and seeing the plans and development of the school. Since our first visit, things have changed dramatically for the fish farm. Roger has secured working capital to facilitate the purchase of larger volumes of commercial-grade fish food. This step will enable him to grow more fish and expand his fingerling business.
Roger has already experienced significant sales increases and seems to have resolved some of the problems he was facing during our earlier visit. Pioneer School has also expanded considerably over the last two years.
The dining hall, additional classrooms, and a high school building have all been added, and the girls’ dormitory was about 90% complete during our visit. School enrollment is now around 400, and Faith and Roger were checking in 14 students during our visit. These are the first students who will be living on the campus.
